I wouldnt recommend modding your radeon 8500 and trying to risk destroying it in any way.

Look at the extreme overclocking results here => @ 320/700

They are nothing to write home about. You absolutely will not notice the performance improvement in any new game with this card. Even in DX8 games you wont. This card is too slow. You'd need 1000mhz GPU and 2000mhz memory clock speeds to compensate for 128-bit memory bus and 4x1 pixel pipelines and 2 vertex engines.

BTW, I score 11500 with it at 275/275 on P4 2.6@3.2ghz what you get with that A64 rig?

well time to uprade

Thats close to mine. Yeah look, given that A64 is faster at gaming at 1024x768 and you have it clocked close to FX55 speeds and you were still unable to beat my 11500 and I have a lowly P4 3.2ghz, it can be said you are 100% videocard bound. Given that both of our systems are very good (esp yours), I think X800XL or 6800GT would benefit nicely. If you are on a budget, 6600GT would do wonders.

Lol. The same would likely apply to my R9200, except I think that one only has a single vextex engine, so it's already starting from behind the curve. I was also interested in vmodding it, not to OC so much as to stabilize it at default clocks. I've had some strange issues before, including cold-boot ones, that seem to indicate that the RAM might need some more power.
