Hi,

I was reading the faq for the Abit KT7 RAID and I noticed this was one of the questions....

Why Duron 600 hangs up on memory counting screen during POST?

Week 31 and later Duron has a new core and maybe incompatible with first release TL BIOS. UL or later BIOS can fix this issue. If you are suffering from it, contact our branch office please. Otherwise, there?s a DIY solution. Connecting the 4th line of L7 bridge on the CPU surface by a #2 pencil, thus you may successfully boot up system then update to UL BIOS. Please notice the DIY solution may cause warranty void in some cases.

Hope AMD doesn't see this on their website...hehe

Jimbo, this is not an overclocking trick. This is I believe one of the Voltage Bridges.

Update: The 4th L7 bridge adds .2v .

I know that the advice listed on ABIT's faq is not the overlocking trick, but for the voltage setting. It was just interesting that ABIT would advise using the pencil trick.

So, you can close the 4th bridge on L7, then boot. Update the BIOS, then shut down and erase the mark, right??

Jimmygates, Do you have a direct link to this FAQ?

Has anyone tried it and a 650 or a 700 ? .2v could help people with overclocking or stability issues.

Liquid,

Thats right. Pencil the bridge, update to UL bios remove the pencil.
Use the bios core voltage changes to tweak later.
