Peltiers are amusing

Here are some pics of a 74 watt peltier cooled by an Alpha p7125 with a 120mm fan, loaded by a 486 heatsink.

Or maybe I'm easily amused 😉

You know, if you put a temperature difference between the two sides, it will generate electricity. I've often wondered what kind of cool things you could do with something like that.

Make a generator out of some peltiers using the heat of an engine. Hmm...

i smell sumtin fishy!!!

why is their a can of gillete shaving cream in the bg of the 800x600 pic?

I SMELL A FAKE

actually not really, but hey, i dont really understand the point of this post

😀

I still have a few 486 boards and cpus laying around.

Problem is small HDDs and cases.

my 486 is sitting in a corner right now... I usually use it as a linux server, but recently I've just been serving everything from my XP box 😉

edit: the shaving cream is there because the shelf in the bathroom in the dorms here is too is too small.

Whatever happened to the 'Peltier' Craze from two years ago? Everyone get tired of condensation zapping their boards and processors out?

Well, a P7125 seems to be cooling stuff fine... even when I load the cold side with another big heatsink with a fan on it, there is usually condensation. Right now I'm working on a project to set up a peltier controller that keeps the CPU above the dew point to prevent condensation. Less extreme overclock? Sure. Safer? Much.
