Peltier cooling

Hi, I was wondering if anyone in here can point me in the direction of some information on peltier cooling. Google only seems to pull up sites in foreign languages and/or sites that review the effects on celeron300a and thunderbird processors. I'm quite interested in running a hybrid peltier/watercooling setup but I can't really find any information about what kind of peltier (peltiers I guess since I'd like to put one on the GPU and chipset if thats at all possible) to buy.

Also, if anyone has any information on how to make a homemade phase change cooling setup, that would be great too. I'm itching to try some extreme overclocks 🙂

nevermind, i've decided to go with the swiftech watercooling+tec waterblock to take all the friggin guesswork out of it 🙂

Although that takes a lot of the fun out of it, it is probably the better way to go. Peltier systems can be extremely effective when set up properly, but often they end up hindering performance more than they help. Because of big advancements in the quality of heatsinks and watercooling set ups and the difficulties with peltiers they are infrequently used anymore. It is also being demonstrated now that a processor does not have to be running below 0c as people are obtaining nearly 2.5GHz from 1.47GHz Athlon XP 1700s with a relatively simple air cooling combo. If you implement any reasonable water cooling solution correctly I think you will be happy with it.

I have played with Peltier coolers and they can be pretty cool. Thermaltake has recently released a retail Peltier cooler system, but it is very pricey. There is also another issue and that is that the active cooling unit can die and then thermal death is almost inevitable if you don't shut down fast enough. Vapochill or water cooling seem to be the most reliable.

With that swiftech, would you need to buy anything else along with it to complete the setup besides watercooling. Does it have the stuff in there that protects against condensation?
