I will be using this and this with my Athlon 750 (running at 945 right now)and Asus k7v.

Just wondering what precautions I should and can take when setting the peltier up to avoid condensation. I don't want to fry my mb or cpu!!!

Thanks in advance for any info.

The closed cell foam pad should take of any problems. If you do have problems, you could always change the voltage to the Peltier by changing the rails to the Peltier.

I have a similar setup on a p3 at first i used the alpha with the foam that was provided--no condensation. I received the water cooler [from the same company] and use the two together, and have no problems with condensation at all. The insulation kits that come with the TEC take care of the potential for condensation on mine. sorry i dont have the temps for the cpu [didnt put a thermistor next to the cpu], but i can touch the backside of the cpu and it is not warm to touch. It feels cooler than room air temp. Cool nough to oc a cpu that would do 950 to 1071>

BTW--Tom Leufkin has a web site with some read me files about installing the TEC that are much better than the instructions that came with my TEC I ordered from 2cool.

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice. I expect to get this stuff early next week and I can't wait to play.

with a single 72W<= peltier you wont see too much of condensation so closed cell foam would do... but i highly recomment 'great stuff', which is a self-expanding foam that hardens after a while... could be a bit messy to take it apart but provides much better insulation. also try to laminate the motherboard if you can to minimize the chances of a disaster. btw, i dont think a single 72w could handle the heat from a classic 750. its more like you would need two 72watters which in turn will require a water block to cool...

but i highly recomment 'great stuff' Where can I get this? Oh wait, is this the insulation stuff you can get from Home Depot?

also try to laminate the motherboard How can I do this?

btw, i dont think a single 72w could handle the heat from a classic 750. its more like you would need two 72watters which in turn will require a water block to cool I am already running this at 945mhz with only a generic heat sink and air cooling. I am only going to try to get another 100mhz out of it, so the peltier is going to be a kind of safetynet.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

yeps... the great stuff, aka high temperature sillicon sealant, is sold at home depot.
head over to chemtronics to request free samples of laminating film :)

Good find. Thanks. I couldn't find anything that said laminating sheets, but I did order some free samples.

This is what I got:

Konform UR, Liquid
CircuitWorks Fast Setting Epoxy
CircuitWorks Heat Sink Grease

Is this Konform UR, Liquid stuff what you were talking about, it is the closest match I could find.

What kind of help are you looking for? Best advice - plug in the thing before you hook it up to the heatsink, etc. and clearly mark (with a pencil or something) which is the hot side and which is the cold.

The directions talk about 2 pieces of foam, a hot plate, cold plate heatsink and the order in which the place them does not make sense to me. The peltier only comes with one piece of foam. I am just looking for clearer step by step instructions.

Please help if you can.

Thanks Brotherman,

I've checked all those links already though. Everywhere I go they seem to want to show how to do it with a socket cpu or a slockit. No one seems to be showing a plain old slot athlon.

By the way, is the stuff I ordered above the laminating stuff you were talking about? How long do they take to ship anyway. I'm still waiting.

Thanks
