"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the driving force behind the Obama agenda in Congress, sharply criticized White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs during a closed-door House Democratic caucus meeting late Tuesday, according to Democratic sources.

Pelosi, irked since Sunday by what she and other top Democrats considered Gibbs' careless and dismissive comments that Democrats could lose their House majority this November, upbraided a top White House aide as she knocked Gibbs' unwelcome handicapping of House races."

Im suprised Gibbs actually came out and said that on Meet the Press. He is usually a 1st class spinner, guess he had a mental lapse there.

Given the current bagel we're in (West Wing fans will get it), what he said isn't really surprising.

I'm surprised anybody was able to interpret his stuttering and blank stares. Go figure...

It will be a great day for the United States of America when a clown like Nancy Pelosi ceases to become the 3rd in line for presidency.

Why? There's an entire party of such clowns waiting in line. Two of which are already ahead of her.

Nancy...it's the economy stupid!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GOP, its the economy stupid. Lets see, the GOP has killed any unemployment extension, any further economic stimulus, and now expects to be rewarded by the American voter
on 11/2010 by stopping Obama's best efforts in trying to prevent unemployment from rising to 25% like it did during the Hoover administration that used similar GOP policies.

OK, Doc, what will be up if you get your wish, a GOP House and Senate, that then causes the US unemployment rate to rise to 25%. After the election of 11/2012, the GOP will be lucky if they retain a single GOP house member, or a single Senator up for election in 2012.

If the entire GOP wants to be the next Hubert Hoover, all I can say, is someone has to play the role of the Villain.

Seems to be working

by stopping Obama's best efforts in trying to prevent unemployment from rising to 25% like it did during the Hoover administration that used similar GOP policies.

I thought Obama said unemployment wouldn't rise above 6 or 7% if we passed the stimulus?

I guess we'll see

lol ok? wild speculations are fun. Want to put money on that horseshit?

Yet somehow you and those principled GOP'ers think we DO have the money to extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, at a cost of $478 billion.

How does it cost 478 billion to NOT tax someone? I mean it shouldn't cost anything to NOT do something. So please explain to me how it "costs" us 478 billion to not roll back tax cuts. Maybe budget should of been cut accordingly, instead of increases.

It's lost revenue from the top 5% of the wealthiest earners. You can't cut taxes without increasing debt unless you slash an equal amount of programs. And Americans don't want their gov't projects slash and vote overwhelmingly in favor of those gov't projects in their locales.

Sure we may of "lost" potential revenue, but it didn't cost us shit. We didn't even really lose it, it's still there we just aren't earning it. Like I said, why is it "lost" or "cost" when we should of slashed the budget along with the cuts? Nothing was "lost."

Freakin' lame. I don't recall Righties raving about budget cuts when Dubya was in office... when they were getting pissant tax cuts while those at the top got really big ones...

Rank and file Righties sold out cheap with their silence at the time, really cheap, and now desperately seek to find a way to deny that...

And if the Right had their way, it'd be the Caribou Barbie second in line for the presidency, ahead of Pelosi...
None of the Right called for tax increases to finance the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq or the hog wild spending on the military beyond that... Noooo.... Fiscal responsibility is something they discovered only when they lost power, when exercising it will magnify the dishonest gains achieved at the top over the last 10 years...

Recessions/ Depressions are great for the wealthy, provided nobody raises their taxes...

And if Righties had their way, it'd be Caribou Barbie smothering McCain with a pillow to get to the big chair...

That was because we were running a surplus and projected to run trillions more over the next decade. The argument at the time was "it is the people's money and the government has no right to run a surplus". The opposing ideology was "we need to pay down the national debt".

There was also the notion that the tax cuts would boost the economy and increase government revenue.

??? You'd be hard pressed to find me arguing against cutting government spending.

Heh. The financial elite craves US govt securities, and even a balanced budget reduces availability drastically, let alone what surpluses would do. They'd have to actually engage in risk to get a return. Can't have that. And owning the govt of the People limits actions in no small way, makes it a lot more compliant to your wishes...

And the whining about "the people's money" is smoke and mirrors, given that the govt actually spends their money on the people, other than the portion allocated to protecting American capitalism's overseas interests... trying to expand their market share into Iraq...

Righties love to talk trash about cutting federal expenditures, but when they had the chance, when they controlled the legislative and executive branches, they ran it up instead, even as they claimed ht economy, the false bubble economy they created, was doing great...

Argue against cutting govt spending, bfdd? Never said you did- you just took your pissant tax cut and STFU... which was the only reason you got anything at all.
