It is not the first time she has been asked to stand before the press and attempt the impossible. It is going to be fun to see what excuse she trumps up (heh) this time.

Not to mention that I believe she was in the room, off to the right behind Schumer.

That right there is the money shot, so to speak. This is what will outlive the entire episode, when all the dust settles.

Eventually, Trump is going to tell people that he did build the wall and the fake news media is suppressing that to make him look bad.

This is the look of a man who is holding back "NO YOU DUMB SHIT" will all of his might.

I thought Mexico was going to pay for the wall? The President has been very clear about that. Why does funding need to be approved when Mexico is happy to pay?

On the surface this sounds so easy to accomplish. Wall funding (partial) for a DACA fix. The two items relate to each other, why the fuss over a compromise?
Compromise = Trump gets part of his wall he can brag about endlessly, DACA fix is mostly on Democrats and the President won’t have to engage the no compromise possible part of his party.

Didn't they offer that to him a while ago and he said no? Maybe Turtle or Eddie Munster shut it down, I can't remember.

Remember what you see isn't what is really happening. It isn't a headline over at Fox so it didn't really happen. #fakenews

I expect Maddow to beat the shit out of Trump while Tucker Carlson plays Alfred E. Neuman and Hannity screams about butterymails.

I don't think Schumer or Pelosi expected Trump to immediately rise to "the best" idiocy so soon. Apparently neither did the Republicans.

He's so far out of his depth with those two I'm surprised his flunkies even allowed that photo opp.

Chuck says

The Presidents temper tantrum will not get him his wall

They did, that happened on the first(?) Chuck & Nancy meeting. The one that disturbed republicans so much they wanted someone trusted near Trump to keep him on track.
That meeting is what spawned “Chuck & Nancy”

It looks like Trump invited the press in at the last minute. Kelly is probably ecstatic to be leaving and not having to deal with the mess.

The thing about government shut downs is the political fallout is based on a blame game. Under Obama, the repugs in Congress tended to be blamed for it. Perhaps that is usually the case, as Congress tends to be more disliked than the POTUS.

The problem is that even before this sorry showing today, Trump already took ownership of a shutdown. He's been saying, "bring on the shut down!" for weeks now. He's totally taken ownership of the whole thing.

Also, the wall he wants to build is not popular with voters. If you're going to force a shut down over policy, at least do it for something a majority of voters actually want.

What an idiot.

Come to think of it, the best way the Republicans could push Trump onto a lifeboat alone would be to keep letting him into unscripted interviews, and fun little 'conversations' like this. Stop doing damage control, position Pence as the repub leader they need, keep it up until the House is settled or Mueller's ready to file, then save face through the impeachment.

The angry Democrats were so disrespectful to our President Donald J. Trump but the LMSM won't tell you that because they are liberal hypocrites who would have had a conniption fit and scream racism if any Republican was ever so disrespectful to Obummer gargle Hannity balls spit venom rinse with bile repeat.

Amazingly I think Trump, unintentionally, just did Pelosi a huge solid here. This interaction is bound to strengthen her grip on the caucus and also her position as speaker.

Ab-so-lutely.

All those Ds that complained about Pelosi just got a wake up call for why she's in the position she is in.

She will school his ass in ways he will never see coming.

And what will he do? Jump on Twitter afterwards and call her Pelosi Poopyhead in response.

"I am proud to shut down the government for border security... I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it," the president said to the Democratic minority leaders on Tuesday.

Yeah, I heard something on the radio where Nancy gestured to stop or move the press out but our President needs to be in front of whatever camera is around wanted to keep them there.

Trump soloing a monologue/or wtaf it is, I cant follow it, trying to comprehend, follow a train of thought, put meaning together... My brain shuts down! I mean it may actually come around at some point, I simply do not have the attention span and/or the logic finesse to bring it around... I have no idea what the man is saying.

Trump Translator sez:

"Screw you guys. Gimme my wall now or I'm going to burn the place down. Me, personally, and screw you very much".

Pence was the best part of this thing (besides Chuck and Nancy making occasional glances at each other with a "can you fucking believe this shit?" looks on their faces). Pence though... man, what a complete waste of skin. He's entirely useless. At least Trump has an opinion and is fiery about it. Pence just sits there and thinks "what would Mother think about this?"

I did not even notice he was in the meeting. Just blended in with the drapes.

I did like Chuck constantly having to look away as to not crack a smile of how badly T was getting played.

It's sort of a like when you are bullshitting someone in a story, they don't get it, you keep going, eventually to a point where it's "OMG, they are still not getting it.. I've made it so obvious.. How to I break it to them...?"

And you decide to just walk away first, as the you can't stand the pained look they will have on their face when they realize they are such a gullible dope.

The first thing you have to remember is that Trump actually believes he is The Great Negotiator. The next is that he is not known for listening to advice that does not agree with what he has already decided, and has a propensity to reacting to the word 'no' in the same manner as a 3 year old with a handgun.
