Peculiar DMA problem

I am not able to enable DMA mode for my CDROM drive which is currently primary slave in my setup..........My HDD and CDWriter have no problems operating in DMA mode........can anyone pinpoint the problem? I'm using winxp and the latest official bios of the k7s5a........BTW, the model of my CDROM is LG CDROM 8522B
