Yes. Those poor Taliban were just looking for a peace treaty and bad Donald decided he wants war...

What a fundamental refusal to comprehend the dynamics at play and why this idea of a deal was always so unrealistic.

The Trumpian mindset is that international negotiations to resolve long running conflicts are, somehow, easy accomplishments yet time after time this admin has done nothing but fall on its face in front of the whole planet.

I’m not going to give the President credit until something succeeds and I’m not going to give him crap unless something trivial gets messed up.
This has to be a mega complicated deal with a whole mess of untrustworthy people. Obviously there will be failures and mid-steps.

Yes, so funny.
Was it the Afghan operations (killing innocent people) part or the ripping up of the peace treaty that was so funny?
The funny part is that Trump supporters believed that there was a workable peace treaty when it was a sham all along. Did you forget Israel/Palestine "agreement"? Or did you forget that Trump just wanted Ukraine to announce investigations into Biden, he didn't care about actual investigation? That's the funny part - gullible people falling for the same sham over and over again.

Chalk one up for the Democrats. The losers are the poor people that are under the terror of the Taliban. But the Democrats won one though!
No one "won" anything here. The Trump administration fucked it up and honestly the Taliban fucked it up as well. Anyone with more than shit for brains knows that the war in Afghanistan will only end with a negotiated settlement. Unfortunately both the Trump administration and the Taliban decided to enter into negotiations that excluded the Afghan government (our supposed allies). A successful path forward requires actually getting all the necessary parties to the same table for honest negotiations. This is something the Trump administration has been uniquely bad at. Their peace plan for Israel is DOA because they excluded key parties and now this plan for Afghanistan is dead for the same reason.

BTW I hate to break it to you but any final settlement in Afghanistan will include the Taliban having a significant say in the future of the country.

The critical misstep was cutting out the Afghan government in the first place.

Standard Trump to make a big deal out of a deal that isn't really a deal. He jammed up the Afghan govt real tight.

Trump- "They agreed to talk to you if you give them 5,000 troops! It's a breakthrough!"

Agreed but we don’t know the full terms and I suspect this deal isn’t over it is just at one of many roadblocks.

Well, Trump didn't include the Syrian Kurds in his deal with Erdogan so why should he include the Afghan govt in a deal with the Taliban?
