PDVIA-LS CPU 0 overheating

Hi all -

PDVIA-LS definitely overheating CPU 0

PDVIA-LS w/ 512 PC100 and 2x PII-400 (same stepping), floppy and PCI video card only.

I have flashed bios to ver 1.63 (pulled from rioworks.co.jp), and in the time it took to boot from floppy and flash the bios, CPU 0 temperature as reported by bios hit 69C. CPU's have BIG HS but no fan.

This overheat happens if one or two cpu's installed and I have swapped them around.

What can cause this? Could this be a bad power supply or just a bad voltage regulator on the board? I am kind of desperate here, as I need this box up.

There is no attempt at overclocking going on, although default CPU core voltage as reported by BIOS is 2.08 (spec calls for 2.0 on these CPU's (SL357)). Is 0.08 V enough to cause this much of an issue?

Any and all thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
