PDF to Word converter?

Ok, so I'm at work and I have a client that scanned 51 pages into the network AIO printer, then emailed the scans in PDF format to himself.

He now is trying to import the PDF into a Word document. if I used Adobe 6 Standard to SAVE AS a Word doc, the formatting becomes landscape even though the original is Portrait. If I adjust the settings of the pdf before saving, I can get a word doc with portrait settings, but thee the image is converted during opening and the text is shifted off the right side of the page. If I take the left margin to 0.2" in word 2003, the doc will display fine on the page. Cool...except now when i save the doc again, it ballons up from 11.5MB to about 500MB.

Does anyone know of any FREE/SHAREWARE/ETC apps that will convert PDF to DOC?

Just yesterday I used Acrobat for this. IDK about a free solution, but adobe acrobat pro has OCR built in. I OCR'd the pdf and copy/pasted it into word.

there isnt a perfect way to do this, try a few of the converters that are out there, you might be able to find one that works for you.

Perhaps. But if I posted this in Tech Support, you know what kind of response I would get? Maybe a reply or two by dinner.

On the other hand, I'm asking if anyone knows of a specific program to do what I want, not troubleshooting, so I'd say Tech Support would NOT be the correct forum.

So you tell me...why doesn't this fit the OT parameters? I see people asking for this in OT all the time.

There is a software forum. How does this possibly NOT fit into that forum better?

And yes, people break the rules constantly. It's annoying, but what can a non-mod do? if people like me comment on it, we're considered forum nazis. But then what's the point of having different topics for different forums? Bah, so we just let it go and try to abide the rules ourselves. Oh well.

Hmm..okay...I admit that software may have been the better fit. My post here was a last-ditch effort to see if someone knew of anything that would help me get the client's issue resolved.

In any case, I'm going to check with the client and find out why he is trying to go from pdf to word when it may make more sense to take everything he has in word and convert it to PDF, then merge the PDF files together. I think that would solve his needs, anyway.

Thanks for the help, everyone, and sorry for the intrusion... 😉
