Get acrobat cuz word alone on a PC doesn't do it.

Use this. It's Open Source and it works great. In fact the full Acrobat install crashes my PC.

It just installs a virtual printer, you can't edit with it.

In OS X you can create PDFs from any app with a "print" function.
