PDF File Management

I am looking for a good way to manage PDF files in a Windows environment. I support an engineering group that is moving from DWG/DWF file format into storing drawings in a PDF format. These drawings are constantly being updated with new information. As soon as a user opens the file, it needs to be replaced with an updated drawing. I need a way to allow users to update these PDF files on the server side while other users have to drawings open for viewing/plotting on the workstation side. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you need a content management system. There are many options available; many at the enterprise level can be pricey (FileNet, Documentum). Alfresco is an open-source CMS that can run on Windows.
