OK, my father has been hinting at a PDA for father's day. I assume he will want to use it mainly as an organizer (with tasks, an alarm, etc.) and also for jotting down simple notes. It would also be nice if it could play mp3/WMA and such (DRM protected if possible - I use yahoo unlimited).

We don't need need anything really fancy or expensive, just something that can keep him organized and let him listen to some music.

Thanks for any help!

AFAIK, there is no PDA that will do DRM.

However, if you want something cheap and simple, a Dell Axim X30 Basic goes for about $199, cheaper if refurb.

Thanks... DRM is not required, just a nice feature. I am still trying to figure out exactly what he wants. I assume he doesn't need wifi or anything, but I really don't know. I may look into smart phones and stuff as well. I think he mainly just want a gadgety thingee that will keep him organized but not be too complicated.

Don't get a Palm, they lack the ability to sync with Outlook, at least I think they do.

Dell Axim is a good choice. Pick the model based on the features you need. I have a X50v and love it.

Just to make sure, if you get wifi and all, would you need to pay a monthly fee, or can you just log on to any free networks? I have been looking at the axims and they seem pretty good. Can anyone point me to some good comparisons of various models?
