I have a Palm One Zire 72s that i bought nearly 2 years ago. I've used it only for nursing school as i keep my drug books and stuff like that on it.

Up until this summer it has worked flawlessly. This summer i decided to change out the battery myself and opened it up and did so without any issues. Now this week it started cutting off without any reason. So yesterday i decided to open it up again to see if there was something not connected. Again i opened it up and i really can't tell for sure what the problem is. I can take the power cord on and off the motherboard and it'll work and occasionally cutoff again. So i'm guessing its some sort of a short in the battery cable.

Now, opening it up this time was a task. One of the screws got stripped and i really had to work to get it out. I also see where one of the wholes that another screw goes in is messed up to the point i cant get a screw back in it. So my point is i can't get the back completely on again. Half of it goes on and the other half doesnt. Right now i got it working, but the back is not completely secured.

Now, having said that....here are my questions...............

I was considering selling it since i graduate in a couple months and i probably wont use it much after school. So how does it work for someone else to use the software to be able to sync it after i've already installed it on mine? Can this be easily done?

Also, i'm thinking someone with some experience with pda's can probably get this back to running without much effort. I can also see someone getting the back on properly with a little ingenuity, which i have none of. The camera and voice recorder still work just fine. So is this still worth some $$ for someone with experience with these? I see them going for $150 or more on Ebay so i'm thinking it still has some value.

Anyone wanna comment? I'd like to know how to transfer it to someone where they can install it on their computer and is it still worth something to someone?

Palms can be HARD RESET to clear it back to Factory defaults. If you can get the case issues and the power problem straightened out, you could certainly resell it.

ya, i definitely think i can find a longer screw that'll fit into the whole that got messed up a bit and probably can find a screw that can replace the stripped one.
