pda mods

i just bought a toshiba pocket pc e335. any good sites for modding it to do insane stuffs that it was not intended for? 🙂

Overclock it? I do remember seeing a site where someone overclocked a graphing calculator.
Have a whole water-cooling tank and radiator attached to the PDA - have it running at 1GHz. And don't forget the 12V lead-acid batteries.😀

Mods would probably be restricted to painting the case. There's not a whole lot of room to work with in something like that, at least that's what I'd figure. Laptops at least have a tiny bit of room for minor mods, sometimes. But a PDA has just about no room inside, and limited power resources.

it would b nice to somehow get my pda to work with an external usb drive. then it'll be an awesome mp3 player for the car

This would be nice, but the problem is that most PDA's are not USB hosts, so they cannot run USB devices.

I have seen some software that overclocks Ipaqs, and I have read about people putting Linux on their Ipaqs.

yea ive got my ipaq 3970 running at 472mhz (off the 400mhz default) with 118fsb (off the 100mhz fsb default), although with the newer Xscale PXA255 Intel fixed their stupid retard performance problem by upping the FSB to 200...

anyway, if your pocketPC has the newer Xscale, and you overclock the bus to i think 220 or something most apps can handle, youll get some awesome performance...


I just saw someone mod their cradle by putting LEDs into the stylus holders, so if youve got some open spaces on the cradle theres an option too...
