Okay so I bought a HP ipaq 1910 about a week ago and I had been satisfied with it but I knew from the beginning that using an adapter in order to use normal headphones would be a problem and I was right as the stupid radio shack adapter broke off and got stuck in it. I decided to take it back and get a toshiba e335 because I had heard good things about it but honestly I dont know if I like it better or not. I cant get the sound output to sound as good and the screen sucks compared to the ipaq but the speed is better on the toshiba. Anyway I can live with the screen difference but the sound is a major issue to me and unless I can find a fix I may have to take it back and get the hp again. Anyone have suggestions on making the sound sound less dull? I like the bass and treble boost on the ipaq but its not in the toshiba control panel, but something to that effect.

You can't do much about the speaker. It's just like that. Try boosting/adjusting your audio files before you send them to your PDA.

Actually I forgot to mention that I was listening with headphones. I had thought of boosting the songs first but I think Ive made my mind up to get the hp again now.

If you're concerned about the speed, there is a utility out that lets you overclock the HP 1910. As far as sound, I wouldn't expect any Pocket PC to have sound output that would rival, say, your PC. There are some that are better than others though.
