I've never heard the PCWorks speakers before, but I do own the Altec Lansing ACS-48 speakers. Even though it's only 2 satellites and a sub, I have to say this system is awesome! I've blown away other people's stereo systems with this during riot hour in the dorms :) It is an older model though, so I'm not sure if AL has made an even better set of speakers since then!

Depends which Altec Lansings. The 54's do suck. The 45's and their bigger brother 48's are sweet. IMO better sounding than the Pcworks with more overall bass.

I don't have experience with PCworks but I love my Altec Lansing subwoofer.

I have the Altec Lansing ACS-33's and the Cambridge Soundworks 3 way sytem. I generally prefer the sound on the Altec Lansings, but I like the remote volume control and the much greater separation of the soundworks satellites. The ACS-33's only have about a 4 foot cord to separate the satellites from each other. Either set works great for me. If you can get the 4 speaker with subwoofer for $30, and your soundcard supports 4 way sound, go for it! You won't be disappointed unless getting a great deal on reasonably decent speakers will distress you!

ACS-33's are no match for the PCWorks. The ACS system has slightly more bass, but the satelite sound and quality of the PCWorks is much better overall.

Take the PCWorks.
