Has anyone ever tried fiddling with in-game console CLIs? I've known they existed for a while but never really tried. Feels like cheating, essentially. I mean, just look at the stuff you can do in Mass Effect with the in-game console.

There's this whole secret key to "god mode" that exists in PC games but few people know about. But that's ultimately a way to undermine a game's difficulty. Maybe developers should lock out the console in the release code for a game? Regardless, I think it's pretty clear that game consoles are bad for PC games.

commenting on a "will be closed shortly" topic is maybe silly. Consoles commands are up to the user, they are not set-ON- unless you want to cheat. Almost all take some searches for CHEATING specifically to find those commands. Consoles have had cheat disc's, cart, and codes since they came out, which you can only use if you -want to- they are not on by default. They have both had "cheats" since day one, use it if you want or dont. Personally with today's games, glitches and what not, a command to nonstick my guy from a doorway that's glitched is a welcome thing.. to cheat, not so much. I haven't used a console command since the QUAKE days, and then only to see where the dopefish was. I don't see it as being detrimental to either, those who want to cheat do, those who don't, do not. Giving people the ability is not wrong, doing it is. The old saying "your only hurting yourself".
