PCs randomly lose connections to Server

Hello,

We have 3 desktops and 2 laptops running Windows XP and a Server running Windows 2000 Server. Sometimes when I am transfering files to the server I can copy one and then the next file it will say that the share has been disconnected. If I close the window and open it back up I can transfer the file. Any idea why this happens? It is a pretty basic setup and I can't figure out why the PCs will sometimes temporarily lose the connection to the server. Any info you can provide will help.

how many liscenses does your server have? if only 5 and all your systems are on, then one of them will have issues. as the server uses one of the 5 client liscenses for itself if I'm not mistaken.(although I could be, micro$ucks liscensing confuses me far too often)
