No. You need 4 PCI-e power connectors to run an 8800GTX SLI. I'm pretty sure none of PC P&C's 510 supplies have more than two.

Molex >> PCI-e power connectors

From what I've heard, PCPC are tanks, and I would think that the 510 turbocool could handle it. Not entirely sure though.

It would probably work fine.

Although the PCPC 510 isn't listed here on nvidia's 8800 gtx SLI approved list, it is rated for 34A continuous on the 12v line. I don't know where I got that, from, but I'm pretty sure it's correct.

In this article, the guy has a 3.2 GHz QX6700, two 8800 GTX cards, and it works with this power supply; it isn't rated for as much current at 12v as the PC Power and cooling.

I say give it a whirl.

i think it can. i have that psu and card...but i havent been able to fire it up cuz im a lazy a$$

i need to buy a new case for it cuz its so damn big. (super lanboy) not too thrilled about moving my entire setup and re-tubing my wc setup -_-

edit: oh crap i didnt see the sli, u should put that in bold! sli will certainly be iffy...four pci-e connectors...each adapter requiring two molex connectors

no it won't work.

11- 12 amps x 2 is the power draw for your 8800GTX SLI so 24.
Add cpu. Hard drives. Fans. etc. If they take less than 9 amps then it's fine. However I think your cpu will take more than 108W.

Should be fine, but you'll need the 4 to 6 pin adaptors.

According to this table at xbit labs the Clawhammer FX-55 uses just under 108W, and the San Diego version less than 74W.

Either way, it's less juice than a QX6700, according to this article at Xbit. The quad core is the cpu used in the Inq article I referred to earlier; there it is overclocked 534MHz, and the Magnum power supply used is rated for 31 amps versus 34 for the Louis' PCP&C.

Granted, Louisss would be pushing his long-in-the-tooth psu. And, there are many quality power supplies rated for 40 amps plus at 12v in the ~$100 range. A Silverstone ST75F rated for 54 amps is available in the neighborhood of $125. See my post here at Jonnyguru's forum for tables and graphs of amps @ 12v versus price.

I believe the consensus at Jonnyguru.com is for at least 50+ amps at 12V from a tier one or two manufacturer to comfortably run 8800gtx SLi. Jonny, also a forum member here at Anand, suggests that power consumption for these cards will increase once DX10 drivers and programs become available that will more completely use the available processing power. He is way more knowledgeable than I am about this stuff, so go poke around over there for details and more insightful opinions than I can offer.
