Spesficly I'm looking at the Silencer PPCS370X, looks like a fairly good deal.

They used to be made by Seasonic, and the new ones look the same but doesn't anyone know what if anything has changed with PCP&C since OCZ bought them?

Nothing has changed. If they cahnge Oems they will not keep the unit under the same name. They will start a whole new product line from the new OEM.

Well that isn't necessarily true.

I know it isn't PC P&C but Antec changed the OEM on their earthwatts units to Delta from Seasonic and all they did was add a D at the end of the model number.

So earthwatts are now all Delta built?

Depends. All the 650W are Delta. The other ones depends on the model number. For instance, EA500 is Seasonic. EA500D is Delta. AFAIK Antec will eventually be replacing all except the EA380.

I bought the PPCS370X.

I'll probably open it up and check it out when I get it. I can share my findings / post pics if anyone is interested.

PCP&C has changed through a few OEMs for its Turbo-Cool line.

The Basiq's are FSP
The Quattro's are Enhance
Some Earthwatts (D models) are Delta
Signature Series is Delta
NeoHE/TP3/Earthwatts (non-D models) are Seasonic

Ok, thanks. I was just wondering if seasonic quality was falling down - like corsair's ram did a year ago.

No. Ok, well, just for you...

Keeping in mind the Turbo-Cool line has been in production since 1988 or so, PCP&C has used internals or out-right rebadged complete units from Zippy, FSP, CWT, and Magtech (formed by employees of the now-defunct US Power and Technology, whose main supplier of PSU components and sub-assemblies was Zippy and partners). e.g.

The old Turbo-Cool 400W = Zippy AP2-5400F-RV2 (identical other than exterior, labeling, and fan options)

The old Turbo-Cool 300W = Fortron FSP300-60GT (identical other than exterior, labeling, and fan options)

If you had asked me this seven or eight years ago, I could come up with several more examples. The good thing about being older is that you've been around to see more stuff. The bad thing is that you can't friggin remember all the particulars.

your comment is totallay misleading.....
except for as you mentions the early 300 and 400 Turbo Cools.
From the 510 on the OEM has been the same....

No, my statement is fairly cut-and-dried. Contrast this:

"PCP&C has changed through a few OEMs for its Turbo-Cool line."

With this:

"PCP&C has changed through a few OEMs for its Turbo-Cool 510 and on line."

From the 510 on the OEM has been the same....
As far as you know, which apparently ain't all that much.

So is this like that 'born again virgin' movement who claims that if you go some arbitrary duration of time without having sex (e.g. four or five years), you can claim to be a virgin again?

I didn't know that if a company changed OEMs three or four times over a product line's 20 year history, those don't count as 'changing OEMs' as long as the current OEM is the only supplier they've had sex with in the last four or five years. Neato!

I really don`t see where you can even prove that the good people at PC Power and Cooling has changed OEM`s 3 or 4 times with their Turbo Cool line....hmmmm

So your a member of the born again virgin movement??

Hey, that's right. Well in that case, PCP&C has changed OEMs 3 times just in the past 5 years, and 12.5 times overall!

You can't really prove they haven't, either, since 'guesstimating' whose internals are inside the products of a company with its own UL and FCC IDs is inherently unreliable.

So your a member of the born again virgin movement??
I figure one can only be a virgin if the've never had sexual intercourse, like you.

What is your screen name on Ars ;)

PC Power and Cooling using Sparkle is an open secret. The Zippy issue comes from that pissing match at Ars. What I kind of doubt and would like to see proof of would be Channel Well as that is one I could not place as to what unit that would have been.

@Win-Tact the 510, 850SSI, 1KW, and 1KW-SR have been Win-tact units. You can find the Win-Tact part/model numbers still on the units in places.
