PCMCIA vs Cardbus - whats the diff?

Whats the difference between the two? Does a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card work as advertised? I only have USB 1.0 on my laptop and need the 480 Mps transfer rate.

I believe CardBus is the 32-bit implementation of the PCMCIA PC-Card standard that runs at either 25 or 33MHz (kind of like a PCI slot). The original PCMCIA standard was 16-bits at something like 8 or 12MHz (kind of like an ISA slot) Numbers may be off but that's the basic gist of it.
