pcmcia vaio cdrw in non-sony laptop

I was wondering if anyone knew how to get a sony vaio pcga-cdrw51 working in a non-sony laptop, specifically in windows 2000. thanks!

Good luck finding drivers that work, that's all I can say.

I know that's not helpful but if the CDRW drive did not come with a driver disk for Windows 2000 then it is probably safe to say that it does not exist at all. Sony is not known for their quality driver support, ESPECIALLY for Windows 2000.

You might want to locate someone who has a VAIO notebook, as there might be files on that come pre-installed on the notebook that work for the CDRW.

yeah -i found the drivers on the sony website, but it still doesn't work correctly, in fact I got a "severe warning" when I tried to install them, something about a .bat file. Help!
