PCMCIA Token Ring Adapter

Eug

Lifer
I found a Xircom IIPS Token Ring PCMCIA network adapter in my dept., along with a DB9 dongle. It supposedly supports 16 and 4 Mbps networks.

Is this thing useless now? (It certainly is useless in my dept.)

hahahah, I've got about 10 thousand pcmcia NICs laying around. Wanna trade? PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Eug, token ring nics were/are expensive 150-400 bucks. Unless you know anybody who wants it then toss it or try to sell somewhere.

spidey

ps - what? No 100 megabit token ring support? what a shame.

Hmmm... I checked out some of the prices for that Xircom II PS PS-CT2-16CTP(AM). US$230! Ouch! Maybe I'll try selling it, although I only have the DB9 dongle and not the RJ-45 dongle (<$30).

I guess scarcity makes it expensive. I have seen nothing but net... errr ethernet... at every place I've worked at (although I'm not a computer guy).

Token Ring stuff was always expensive. The main reason this nic is still high is that it's a PC card.... you can now get ISA TR nics for about two bucks apiece, unless you can get someone to pay you to cart the stuff off!
