The sound on my laptop doesn't work, and I'm not sure how much of a pain it will be to fix. I'm considering a PCMCIA solution...but am having a hard time finding recommendations. I found one card, made by "EXP" sound on Epinions, but with no reviews and nowhere to purchase it.

Anyone have a suggestion for me?

The Extigy might work, but it's a bit bulky to bring everywhere with me... :p

years ago there used to be this SB 16 compatiable card that run out of the PCMCIA slot.. it even had 2 speakrs right on the card...

that was 1993 though. see if you can find it on ebay.. those are rare hardware items.

I bought a panasonic PCMCIA cd-rom that had a soundcard built in as well. The dongle coming off the card had a SCSI connector for the cd-rom and a breakout box for the sound connections.

Hmm...I wonder how that works. It sounds more like what I'd need - the Extigy is just too big. :p

Saw this recently. Kinda pricey though. I think it is professional class stuff. It is a single pcmcia card with a friggen huge dongle thingy.

Just did a google search "pcmcia sound" and got this. Notice the limited OS support though.

Some on ebay

It just has an ESS soundchip in it.
