PCMCIA card installation?

Not to my recollection, but when it goes as far as it can you will know.

Just give it a good heave - if the laptop hits the floor, you've pushed too far 🙂
 
On my laptop there is no clicking. Simply push it in all the way. Installing while laptop is on with 2000 or xp should give you some sort of on screen notification that new hardware was found... If that pops up... then it's all the way in.
