PCMCIA and CompactFlash 802.11B WiFi cards and ones with best range?

Anyone know which 802.11b WiFi PCMCIA card has the best range? I've heard that some models have antennas (but I've not seen any of them--only desktop usb and pci models). Is this true? I see a SMC model that claims 1150-1500 feet ability...doesnt that seem higher than it should be? I'm assuming thats for outdoor use of unobstructed line of sight. I thought the range was like 300 feet max. Perhaps thats indoors?

I want to find a PCMCIA card with built on multidirectional (is this called omnidirectional?) antenna (discreet preferably) so I don't need a pringles can.

$100 US or less and Linux or BSD support is bonus.

Any card recommendations even if they don't suit the above are welcome too... linksys, d-link, orinoco, smc, whatnot please give me any feedback and the max range you've experienced with your PCMCIA WiFi 802.11b cards. Thanks a million.

PS how do compactflash cards for handhelds stack up against their PCMCIA counterparts for range?

I am EXTREMELY sorry there were multiple copies of this thread.
When I had posted it it sent me to a 404 page NOT the normal "this has been posted"
I pressed refresh one too many times on that page it would appear.
