PCMark05 Problems (It Won't Run)

Greetings all.

I just built an abit ip35 Pro system with an E4500 and 2x1GB GSkill DIMMs. I have it overclocked to 3.01ghz (274x11) at 1.42v. Memory timings are set to auto, and the memory ratio is 1:1. Any other ratio and the system is not stable enough to boot to Vista.

I am running Vista Business.

ORTHOS runs fine (ran it 9 hours before I stopped it) and OCCT custom/infinite test runs fine (ran for over 10 hours before I stopped it). Under those loads, core temps never get over 58C. Idle temps 23C-30C (using Speedfan).

3DMark01 completes just fine.

When I try to run PCMark05, I get to the "Please wait, gathering Systeminfo" screen and then hangs. I let it sit there for 30mins and nothing happens. Sometimes Vista tells me the app has stopped responding, sometimes it doesn't say that. Regardless, it never gets past that initial splash screen.

The system works fine otherwise. Any ideas on why this is happening??

Thanks,

Jason

No answers?

Either my problem is very boring and nobody wants to help, or nobody has a clue as to why PCMark05 won't run on my system.

I had a similar problem on several new installs then came back later and it worked...

I'm pretty sure it was not having Java installed. I was able to repeat this over and over and once Java Runtime is on it works!

These were new installs and Java isn't the first thing I install in fact until I hit a website that doesn't work I don't install it/ forget.

Excellent. I knew someone was bound to have an answer.

Thank you for the suggestion. This is a very new install. Not counting drivers and benchmarking/testing apps, I haven't installed much besides MS Updates and 7-zip. I'll install Java tonight and see if that helps.

Installing Java didn't help.

After installing Java from Sun's website, I uninstalled then reinstalled PCMark05. It still does the same thing.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Jason

I'm having the same problem. PCMark05 won't get past the Logo screen. My system is also brand new - MSI P35D3, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2GB Patriot PC10666, Radeon HD 2600 XT, and Window XP Pro SP2c (stock - no OC yet). BTW, PCMark05 is doing something. Even though it never passes the Logo screen. Win Task Manager reports it as using 25% of the CPU, and it is tagged as "Not Responding".

I have not added any software yet, including Java. I installed PCMark05 on an older machine in the house. It runs fine on it. I've been sending Futuremark request for help for a week - no response.

Anyone here got any suggestions?
