PCIE x16 vs PCIE x4

How much performance do I lose if I use a PCIE x 4 slot compared to the x16 slot?

i doubt it would be much unless you had an 8800.


i have a 945gz that uses an x4 slot with x16 connector and with a 7600gt or something i doubt you'd notice a difference.

x4 is still about the same bandwidth as agp 8x.

Very little, if any.

AT tested that on the P5B Deluxe informally, & the results were very close.

Yeah, as already said, the latest generation of cards will be bottlenecked by a x4 slot.

Older stuff will run just fine, maybe a little slower.
