have people with new Gigabyte 965 based systems used this PCIe molex power expansion for their cards?

I always use the connector. Update to the F6 bios, uninstall the current NV drivers, reboot into XP, let it recognize the card, run drivercleaner, reboot again, install the latest NV drivers. You should be good to go. The early bios versions on the GX2 cards had an issue that caused the card to not be properly recognized by the drivers, usually required an uninstall procedure a couple of times.

the latest Bios available for my DS4 using the Gigabyte d/l app was the F5.

have you heard of anyone else having problems with either:

have you tried connecting the molex connector? perhaps try a new install of windows to get rid of any possible graphic driver problem. try testing the card in another computer. you might need to RMA it if it's bad.

BTW, did you connect the power connector on the back of the card itself?

after updating to the F5 Bios and attaching the motherboard PCIe molex connector the PC now works fine with the XFX 7950.

yes, the six pin was attached. 🙂

cheers
