Hi,

Please suggest a Graphic card for Premier and watching TV. I am not a gamer. It will go into Abit IP35 Pro with Intel E8200 + 2Gb memory. Price range within £50. That is my budget I am afraid. Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion, but I am afraid they are all pricey (above £50) here in UK due to VAT.

You already have the DV capture board for Premier, no? If so, then all you need is good hardware video playback/decoding. Any of these should be more than sufficient for HQ multi-format video playback from Premier or the boob tube:

ATI Radeon HD 3650 (best)
ATI Radeon HD 2600PRO or 2600XT (better)
ATI Radeon X1650 PRO (good)

NVIDIA GF 8500GT (better)
NVIDIA GF 7600GT or 7600GS (good)

My 'rankings' are relevant within the same ATI or NVIDIA group, not between ATI or NVIDIA. When comparing your options, you'll find cards at different price points with different RAM type and memory interface/bus width. To help make better comparisons, keep in mind that:

DDR3 is better than DDR2 (a.k.a. GDDR 2&3)
256-bit memory interface/bus is better than 128-bit

I would try to avoid 64-bit memory interface/bus.

No I do not have DV capture board, I use firewire to transfer my films from camera to computer. I will have a look at these cards you suggested. Thank you very much.
