Hi everyone, first time poster, long time reader.

So I just received my XFX 290 yesterday and was in the process of installing it when I noticed that my power supply's 2 PCIe connector both come from the same cable (I've included a couple of pictures for reference). The instructions that came with the video card stated that both PCIe connector should have their own cable running from the PSU. My question is if it's safe to power the video card with the single cable or do I need a new PSU? Also, does the PSU provide enough amperage for my entire system?

Intel i7-4770k (stock)
Intel 256GB SSD
XFX 290
8GB G Skill
Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W

These are the specifications for the power supply from the egg

+12V Rails: Single
PCI-Express Connector: 1 x 6-Pin, 1 x 6+2-Pin
Input Current: 10A @ 115V, 5A @ 230V
Output: +3.3V@24A, +5V@24A, +12V@50A, -12V@0.5A, +5Vsb@2.5A

Better PSUs should run seperate cables from the main PSU for each PCI-E connector.

By putting both PCI-E connectors off of the same cable, they are essentially overloading that cable by a bit. Then again, they may be using larger-gauge wire for the cables, so it could be a wash.

You could try it, run Furmark, see if it crashes, and put your hand on the cable, see if it heats up too much. (You certainly don't want it to melt through the insulation.)

I ran Furmark 3 times and it passed without a hitch. Touched the cable each time and it was not hot at all. Since the PSU has a single 12V rail and it has 50a, should the PSU be sufficient?

the total power is sufficient. I'd estimate 300w for the gpu and 120w for everything else. As for the cables, I think you might be pushing it, but I'm not really sure. How many yellow wires originate from the power supply on that cable?

They look like heavy guage wire. I doubt they'd do that way without making sure there capable of the load.
