pcie 3.0 x16 riser

I want to use a riser for a new gtx 670. It says its using pcie 3.0.
If my mobo has pcie 3.0 slot (asrock z77e-itx) can I use that card with a riser or the riser also have to be 3.0 "ready" or something?

If the riser is passive (as most are) then it will work fine. Its just a pass through device.

Where you can have issues is if its a bridge riser. But these are typically for converting PCI-E to PCI or the like.

Even then it should work, but at PCI-e 2.0 speeds, which still aren't much of a bottleneck.
