EDIT #2: NVM clearly I'm too freaking tired.! On to my question/issue!

Welps, finally got my new parts and unfortunately the MSI Voltage badge on my Lightning and it's overall size makes my two PCIE 1x slots useless for my Creative Z soundcard.

Only way to get everything to fit is to use my second PCIE 16x slot which runs at 8x when a card is connected there.

Not sure this article would apply to my type of card, but it seems to say I should be fine (even the ATF thread here said 2.0 8x is enough):

Just checking in to see if I am in fact fine running my card at PCIE 2.0 8x or if I am needlessly bottlenecking.

I think you can remove the thing on the back of the card if that is what is blocking your sound card. But yes, beside issues that your motherboard might have with it, 2.0x8 bandwidth is plenty.
