OK i've got a linksys router, the one with Vonage.

I've gotten a linksys pci card as well. It works great but its one room away and i get 73% signal. Then my friend brought over his desktop and he has a linksys with dual antenna's, reguardless of were our dekstops are place he gets a stronger 8-12% then myself.

So now i'm shopping for another wireless card for my new desktop and i was wondering if the antenna's do anything more?

Actually looking for someone to suggest me a wireless card, with easy setup. Because the new computer will be placed in a area where the WMp54G card i have gets about 43%.

I was looking at D-link's 3 antenna cards hoping it will get better signal.

everything is thru wireless- G speeds no plans on anything more.

The percentage of Signal is quite meaningless, and the numbers of Antenna as well.

Three Antennas is a draft-N feature and has nothing to do with 802.11g.

If you need a Wireless PCI card get this one. Its Antenna is connected via extension so it can be put above the system and avoids an obstruction (which is what count in the Wireless signal).

those type of cards look great. Is there a more mainstream line brand that makes it.

Sure, you can buy a similar PCI card with an optional extra Antenna by a more ""known"" Brand (more known usually means that they put more money in Marketing than they put in technology).

Would cost you three times more.

And guess what? Would perform the same., and you would not even see that it is another "name", coz the PCI card is inside the case.

I'm not big into these things. But $10 after rebate is hard not to pass up.

so i picked it up, zonet a little shady on the rebate 14 days after sales date.

installation of driver card took 10 mins from shutdown to startup and online. looks to have stronger connection in the 70% areas where i used to have 45% but thats linksys's software vs zonet.

i wished the 3 feet cable for antenna was a little longer like 5 feet so i can have it on top of my monitor. i forgot to do before and after speed testings. But it seems as i got 14MB/s right now on comcast cable. so all systems a go...

In theory a higher dbi directional Antenna with coax that can put it over the monitor would do better.

However, it would run for $20 or more, and Better might be so little that I am not sure that it worth it.
