 I am trying to build my first computer. I have a pny verto pci video card mx 440-se 64 MB that the asus mobo does not recognize as being installed. The moniter stays dark. I have installed another pci card (32 MB ge force2 mx200) that does work but I figure the pny would be better. I know that an AGP card would be better but I had these already.

My system
Asus p4 p4s333
1.8 p4 proccessor
1 stick 512mb kingston 2700 ram
6gb hard drive ( I have 80 gig to install after problems are solved)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Make sure to go into the BIOS (with the PCI Video card installed) and
set the AGP video as the PRIMARY video card.

in the BIOS go to

Advanced Configuration \ PCI Configuration \ Primary VGA BIOS
set it to 'AGP VGA Card'

Also, be sure to install the SiS AGP WHQL Drivers for your OS off the CD or Website.

can you try the card in another comp ? if the 32mb is working fine it sounds like the pny64 is no good.
good luck and welcome to ANANDTECH
