PCI/USB Wifi Trasmitter...Does it exist?

I have a phoneline netowrk setup in my house through a linksys phoneline router. Now, i just bought a wifi laptop. I was wondering if there is a PCI or USB device that can transmit the internet connection through wifi. The idea is i don't want ot buy a wifi router. Range would only be about 50 feet into the next few rooms.

You can use any wireless card and Window's Internet Connectyion sharing. Here is my favorite PCi card, DO NOT buy a USB one:

A USB adapter is working fine for me with ICS. Any particular reason you urge against that, keeleysam?

You could just buy a WiFi access point, and link it to your PC or Router via ethernet. They're not much more expensive than a WiFi card, and they work better if you have more than two PC's on the network.

But yes, WiFi PC cards are easily found at almost any computer shop. Just make sure that you get compatible standards. 802.11a only works with itself. But 802.11b and 802.11g (and i think 802.11n) all work together.

Any idea how to set this up once I get it? Should I install their driver, or will Windows ICS take care of it?

I read something about the computer needing two ethernet cards? Is this true? Right now, i have a ethernet port on my desktop. I get internet through a USB Phonline Network Adapter. So once i install this, then what do i do?

I guess i need to setup an "ad-hoc" network. With this setup, can the host computer be online and the laptop at the same time? What about more than one wifi laptop? Are they splitting the bandwith, or sharing it like a router?
