PCI TV tuner wanted

I'm looking for a PCI TV tuner card but i don't know what to get, i was considering the Radeon 8500DV but it seems that the performace has a huge dip compared to the "plain" 8500. Also becuase of the cost of a 8500DV... about $300. I was hoping just to get a PCI card instead of a video card built in with a TV tuner and VIVO so when time comes to throw away the old card i won't have to get another with VIVO. Plus... VIVO and TV tuner just keeps adding cost to a video card.
Suggestions are welcome.

I was pretty sure that the ALL-IN-WONDER 8500 performed just like the 8500 brother.

I like the Hauppauge PCI TV tuner cards.

It actually has a slower core and mem speed than the regular ones
it appears as if the 8500's have 3 different clock speed levels.. which is getting dumb, since they're all called 8500
it's strange how your post title states PCI TV tuner wanted.. yet, the 8500DV is an AGP all in 1 card.

I'd get an ATI TV wonder (non-VE) the VE doesn't support stereo, and a few other things.
whatever the higher model is called.. (not sure off hand) is what I would buy... it's PCI, and it's JUST a tuner card... not a video card too.. like the 8500..
and about 1/4 the price....

He was considering getting the 8500DV. Since he's decided to get a different video card, he is now looking for a PCI card.

I like the Radeon 8500DV because of the built-in stuff and the remote. Gotta love remotes. 🙂

it would be cheaper to get a radeon 8500 and a separate tuner anyways... i'd choose the wintv go by hauppage or maybe an avermedia tv studio. the ati tv wonder gives my room mate quite a few driver compatability problems.

I would stay away from the All in One solution if I were you....You will probabaly be replacing (upgrading) your Video Card more often than your TV tuner..........l
If your area has digital BroadCasting ...if might be a good idea to go digital instead...

Bah. If only ATI came out with a TV solution that had a remote! I just want to use the ATI remote. Right now I'm using an IR remote. I want some of that Radiofrequency goodness. None of this line-of-site stuff.

I say get yourself a nice vid card and tunner...I have a Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO and Happaugue WinTV GO FM..they work great...

If you really want to blow money away ...click here

I setup one of these and it was freakin' marvelous.

Then again, it will save you from having to buy those expensive decoder boxes.

I really like the looks of the Hauppauge PCI tv tuner and PVR cards. The WinTV PVR is a very good card and it comes with a remote too. I saw them online for alot less than the MSRP.

I like them also. I got a wintv theater and its nice considering price, quality and functions it got bang for the buck. I will upgrade to a pro card soon though..
