I get this error message . Placing the XP CD is crashes too . Can someone please guide me through this ?. I really have a lot of data which I don't want to loose by a format and reinstall . - thanks

Where do you get this error message? On bootup? While in Windows? Have you tried a repair install of Windows yet?

What you said is basically the equivalent of my car is broke, help me fix it. Not much we can do without more information.

Were you overclocking your system when this happened? Is your PCI bus higher than 33MHz? If so you may have corrupted your windows install but it can be fixed.
