PCI slot matter?

Got Soundblaster live pci card, wondering if any PCI slots give less of a performance hit than others from different irq usages or something, or maybe interferring with agp. any recommendations or does it not matter?

people always say the stuff the gets the most use should go near the top, sound card first, nick card, second...

hoever ive never had an issue

PCI slot does matter, they are not all the same.

Some mobo manuals make the effort to explain the
slot relationships. Every mobo manufactorer is diferent.

Hmmm...

Im on a VIA k8T800 Pro for skt939, not really sure which pci slot to use... Though the manual mentions PCI slots, i still dont know which one to use... Im using slot 4 out of 5

Look at your motherboard manual. Some of the PCI slots are referred to as shared and some are referred to as not being shared. I dont know exactly what is shared but I have noticed this in the manuals. I Dont know if it the IRQ or other system resources that is shared.

What brand and model of motherboard is it, exactly? Asus A8V Deluxe, or what?

Some manuals tells you that slot x shares irq with agp slot, etc.. usually first (as mentioned) certain board actually tells you which slot to put what.. i had a mobo that tells u, 3 for modem/nic, 4 for firewire, 5 for sound card. Which is weird..

I once loaded my pc with 2 lsi u320 raid card, was checking firmware and I also had a 29160 scsi card in there.. my video card came up disable in windows, not enough irq.. so even though acpi was suppose to take care of everything.. it doesn't always happen

Dont use the PCI slot that shares bandwidth with the AGP, IDE, SATA, Onboard stuff. You will find this type of detail in the manual of your mobo.
