PCI slot - 5V or 3.3V?

since most of the new m/bs are not coming w/ serial and parallel ports and some of the parallel/serial port add-in cards need 5V, well, how do you know? is it a atx spec? what are current mbs?

the 5v and 3.3v slots are actually turned around in different directions, such that the smaller part of the PCBoard contacts that go into the PCI slot is notched to go into either a 3.3v or a 5v slot. most newer cards are notched for both though. wikipedia has a pretty good article on the pci local bus if you want to do some research yourself
