pci network card

pontifex

Lifer
i think there might be something wrong with my built-in nic card on my motherboard.
1st of all, it doesn't shwo up in my network connections at all. the motherboard is a EVGA nForce4 SLI edition. Its the one that came free with the EVGA 7800GT video card.
it will work fine for a few hours but if its left idle for awhile it loses the connection or something. rebooting the dsl modem doesn't work, rebooting the pc seems to work though.

so whats a good PCI NIC card? I'm thinking of getting either
3COM
or
LinkSys

or does anyone have a better card for around that price?

I have used many Linksys LNE 100, purchased for 10$, and they have worked fine. 3COm's 3C0905 series cards are excellent but used to be higher priced. For your needs go with whatever is cheaper, price should be less <15$.

i ended up getting the linksys card. got it and installed it.

the internet still stops working.
whats weird is that i can open up a few more IE windows and it will start working again. i don't understand it.

any ideas?
