pci modem not found.....

I am trying to install a pci modem yet win98 has yet to recognize it. i know the modem works i just switched mobos. i threw in an isa and it worked. i have tried changing pci slots and still nothing. i know the slots work because after i move things around win98se picks up the new things. any help would be appreciated....thanks in advance...

Try changing IRQs in the bios for the slot the modem is in. It might be trying to grab one that is already in use.

You're probably also wondering what's the "PCI Serial controller" that's showing up in device manager. Hint: this is your modem

Check your modem chip, then you should able to find out who makes it.
You can then install the reference driver...such as Lucent, PCTel, Rockwell...

i have dl the newestdrivers from pctel but still nothing i have checked the pci slots and they work fine. this cheap modemm is pissing me off.any other ideas.....should i try installing it manually through the control panel i hvae tried before but still nothing. i have taken all of my cards out of the computer and still nothing.

PCtel..hmm...
If I remember correctly, you should disable one of the serial port (preferr disable secondary one) from your mobo BIOS enable for it to work.

more info on your mobo will be helpful.

btw, make sure you d/l the correct reference driver. there are 4 different modem driver.

Have you tried to disable the secondary serial port?
d/l correct driver?
Sit that modem on PCI 2 or PCI 3 slot?
