pci latency "what is it"

I have gotten these warning from Sis Sandra about pci latency being to high with my highpoint controller and video card. Can anybody give me alittle info on this issue or a link to an article on it, any does anybody know how to adjust it in the Soyo award bios settings. Thanks

Rain

I've seen it recommended to set PCI latency to 32. I think it's the number of clock cycles before the CPU polls the PCI bus.

If I remember correctly the higher the latency the better the performance, but it could cause system stability problems.

I get the same warnings, I've tried higher settings and it still says the latency is too high. I put it back to 32 and ignore that warning.

There have been a few threads on this topic before but they seem to have been deleted now. Lets hope those more educated than I will respond to this one.

Sandra reports the PCI latency of my GeForce DDR AGP (?) card as 248 and warns about hogging the bus. Others have posted the same results and some have said that this is normal and no need to fix. I can't find any settings in the 2BA1 bios for my Soyo 6BA+IV that would allow me to adjust PCI latency.
