I found a thread with some very interesting results regarding the PCI latency issue with VIA chipsets. He will be testing the Sis 735/745 chipset very soon as I have requested him to do it.

Please note, these are tests done for professional digital audio workstations specificially and so I cannot guarantee anything. His testing procedures are vaguely outlined in the first paragraph.
