here is a good PCI-E card in your budget. Right now though there is really no advantage with PCI-E unless you are going to SLI in the future.

The 6600GT is really great, but I would suggest the 6800 NU as a better option. I think BB has or had a package that had the BFG 6800 OC w/ Far Cry and HL2 for $250. I think the 6600GT edges out the 9800 Pro, which is by far a better card than the 9700 pro.

Quite a bit better. It's the upper midrange model of nVidia's newest line, the GeForce 6 series. 9700 was two generations ago. 9700 -> 9800 -> X800 <-> GeForce 6 series (IIRC).
