pci express x16 question

Ok i have the mobo mentioned in the title. My video card blocks one of my sata ports if i use the blue 16x pci express slot. there is a second pci16 slot that is black. In the manual it says pci express x16(electrical x4/x1) If i move my video card to the second slot will my cards performance be hindered? My video card is an Evga 9600gt

if your main one is 4x then it is already severely hindered... it will be much more hindered on the 1x... what exact motherboard model is it?

Nah, I think it's a P35 board or something with a 16x and x4 slot for crossfire.

Sorry its an Asus P5k e wifi so top is 16 bottom is 4
