Alright right now I have a AMD 64 FX-53 and geforce 6800 GT. I am thinking I will upgrade my video card with g80, but I don't think I will upgrade my CPU. As far as I can tell most games aren't that CPU limited atm and might not be for a while. But since i have an AGP board, I am going to need to get a PCIx one. I was thinking I would probobly get an nvidia board since its possible I might want to sli at some point and nvidia boards tend to play better with nvidia gpu's. So which Nvidia board do you think I should get? I don't really want to spend a ton on it, but i would like sli capability. Am I being reasonable? Or should I upgrade my CPU at the same time so I don't have to upgrade later?

It sure would be tempting to used this as an excuse to go conroe. However, I'm not an early adopter and RAM prices are high right now, so I would probably just get another 939 board.

Yer gonna drop $200+ on a video card anyway, whether you update the MB or go to a C2D system, so the question is, do you want to spend $250 for a CPU, another $125 for a MB and another $150-$250 for memory, or would rather drop $100 for a DFI Ultra board? I know which way I went.

I just switched from AGP to PCIe... (6800GT -> 7950GT)

The boost in graphic performance was A LOT. If you don't want to do the whole sh'bang... (C2D, etc...) you would still be very happy with this upgrade.

I went with an ASUS A8N-E and found it much easier to get my 3800+ to 2.5GHz than it was on the DFI LanParty UT D. HOwever for the absolute top GHz the LanParty would probably go higher... I just like the no muss no fuss of this mobo.. YOu'd want to do an SLI version it sounds like

why?

Good price and performance, mainly.

I got crazy overclocks with mine (took both a 3700+ and an Opteron 165 to 3GHz).

The built in Firewire, and the 3 PCI slots are a nice touch too.

A buddy of mine has an 9NPA+ Ultra, and he got his Opty 146 from 2.0 to 2.85. Although he is using a Zalman fan, it's still a great board. I've got an MSI Neo4-F, and it's treated me well on both my A64 3500 and A64 X2 4200. Either board is great, but I am looking to try SLI in the next couple months, so I'm looking at the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe. Either of those two boards should be fine, although it seems like Epoxes are built to last.

I'm in a similar situation... wanting to upgrade but cant afford to do it all at once.
I currently have the FX-53 on an Asus A8V Deluxe with the 6800GT, with 1GB DDR400.

Im thinking the A8N-SLI premium from newegg (133.99) because I can re-use my CPU and memory, and at the same time get a GF8 series PCI-Ex video card, most likely from BFG. The reason I want the A8N-SLI over the A8N-E is the added SATA ports. The SLI has 8, while the E only has 4. Eventually, Ill upgrade to 2GB ram, and a Dual Core 939 CPU.

I want to know though, is there any 1x PCI-Ex sound cards out yet?

...Umm did you read my specs and just quote them? I seriously have the A8V deluxe (without the pci lock), 6800GT and 2GB of ram (recently up from 1GB). I was thinking about the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe since it supports 2x 16x PCI-Express. I think most SLI boards use two 8x when there are two cards.
