i have an asus p5q pro motherboard. there are 2 pci-express slots and both are x16.

would there be any performance disadvantages by putting the video card in slot 2 instead of slot1? if i put the video card in slot1, it comes pretty close to the harddrive cage on the right side and doesn't allow the IDE cable of the harddrive to be plugged in.
 
It should work as far as I know, but I can't say for sure.

If your thread continues to get no response I would consider editing your thread title to be more specific about the information you're looking for. Your title doesn't give people browsing the forum any real idea of what's inside.
 
There should be no problem at all, I myself ended up moving mine to the 3rd PCIe slot for some test perposes and just left it there.
